South Dade has a full plate this weekend. Pick from a stage play in downtown Homestead, a food festival at Zoo Miami and a dog party in Palmetto Bay.
Karaoke Night at Losner Park
Friday, October 2, 6 to 9 p.m.
Losner Park, 104 N. Krome Ave., Homestead
The monthly karaoke night is back. It is free and outside, and the cooler October air helps. Bring a chair.
The Next Chapter: “Sitting Pretty”
Friday, October 2, 7 p.m.
Seminole Theatre, 18 N. Krome Ave., Homestead
What if Works and the Homestead Center for the Arts stage a funny and touching play about life as a wheelchair user. It is based on Rebekah Taussig’s memoir and performed by three actors. Tickets are $15, or $10 for seniors, veterans and students with ID.
Wild Fork Meat & Seafood Festival
Saturday, October 3, 5 to 9 p.m.
Zoo Miami, 12400 SW 152nd St.
The first festival of its kind at the zoo. Expect all-you-can-eat meats and seafood, beer and wine for guests 21 and up, a Kids Zone, animal encounters and a tiger feeding. Wild Fork’s Chef Oliver González cooks live with Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill. Tickets are $25 for kids 3 to 12, $75 for adults and $150 for VIP. Members save, and kids under 3 get in free.
Wieners & Friends Bark Bash
Sunday, October 4, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Coral Reef Park, 7895 SW 152nd St., Palmetto Bay
Dogs of every breed are welcome. There is a lure course, treat and water stations and a costume contest. Miami-Dade County Animal Services will bring dogs ready for adoption, and Palmetto Bay residents can apply to have the adoption fee paid back. The Palmetto Bay Farmers’ Market holds its grand re-opening at the park the same day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
