Miami Dade College Prepares South Dade Students for High-Demand Fields

Miami Dade College Homestead is expanding access to high-skill careers through nursing and drone technology programs that align with regional workforce needs and provide affordable, hands-on pathways to employment or continued study. 

Dual Enrollment LPN Program 

The Licensed Practical Nurse Dual Enrollment Program allows students at Homestead Senior High School to earn college credit while completing their high school diplomas. Students receive hands-on training in modern laboratories, complete clinical experiences with local partners and prepare for the NCLEX-PN exam. 

Graduates may transition directly into Miami Dade College registered nursing pathways, creating an accelerated and cost-effective route into high-demand health care careers.

UAV and Drone Technology Program 

Miami Dade College’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle program is offered at Miami Executive Airport and the Homestead Campus. The program prepares students for Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 certification and includes flight training, mission planning and data analysis. 

As drone use expands across industries, graduates are prepared for growing opportunities in South Florida’s technology and logistics sectors.

Miami Dade College Expands College Pathways for South Dade Students   

Miami Dade College offers several debt-free college pathways, including the Honors College, Presidential Scholars and Rising Scholars, with applications open through March 16, 2026. 

The Honors College is a selective two-year Associate in Arts program for first-time students with a minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA, requiring strong test scores, essays and recommendations.

Presidential Scholars is a merit-based program for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher that covers tuition and fees and provides stipends, leadership development and university transfer pathways. Rising Scholars supports high school graduates from the class of 2026 by covering in-state tuition, books and technology while offering academic advising and wraparound support services.
