The South Dade Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted its May Monthly Luncheon, “Service Beyond the Uniform,” bringing together business leaders, community leaders, military representatives, Chamber board and members, and community partners for an afternoon rooted in gratitude, leadership, and service.
The luncheon served as a meaningful reminder that service does not end when the uniform comes off. Across South Dade, active-duty service members, military families, and civic leaders continue to shape our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and community organizations through discipline, resilience, integrity, and commitment.
A highlight of the program was the presentation of the Military Excellence Award, honoring individuals whose leadership and service extend beyond their military duties and into the greater South Dade community.
This year’s nominees included Angel Luis Vasquez, Sergeant John Castro, CSM Julio Gutierrez, and Chief Master Sergeant Karie Contreras. The Chamber proudly recognized CSM Julio Gutierrez as the 2026 Military Excellence Award recipient.
Guests also heard from keynote speaker Mr. Katdo Robinson, whose message centered on perseverance, leadership, and the responsibility those who serve each carry to remain engaged and fostering in our communities.
Through events like this, the South Dade Chamber continues to strengthen the connection between business, service, and civic leadership. The Military Excellence Luncheon was not only a tribute to those who have served, but a call to continue building a community where service, sacrifice, and leadership are honored year-round.
“Service does not end when the uniform comes off—it continues in our businesses, neighborhoods, and community leadership.”
