The Fourth of July is extra special this year as the country marks 250 years of independence, and South Miami-Dade is ready to celebrate.

In Cutler Bay, the morning belongs to the community. The Cutler Bay 4th of July Parade and Picnic runs from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Whispering Pines Park. This free, family-friendly tradition has brought neighbors together for more than 50 years.

Down in Palmetto Bay, the Deering Estate opens its historic bayfront grounds for a two-day celebration on July 4 and 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $8, and the day is packed with family activities.

As evening falls, South Miami hosts its America’s 250th Celebration at Palmer Park from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. The free event features live music and food. Out in Homestead, the Race to the 4th lights up Homestead-Miami Speedway from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. with family fun and fireworks.

Wherever you go, bring water, sunscreen, and a sense of celebration. Happy Independence Day, South Dade.
