Back to School Health and Safety Fair

Saturday, July 11, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Phichol Williams Community Center, 951 SW 4th Street, Homestead. A free family fair with health screenings, free backpacks and school supplies, a book giveaway, and a petting zoo. A great head start before the new school year.

Magic Show with Brent Gregory

Saturday, July 11, 2 to 3 p.m. Homestead Cybrarium, 80 West Mowry Drive, Homestead. A free, all-ages magic show full of tricks, laughs, and audience fun. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon with the kids.

Miami Short Film Festival: America’s 250th

Sunday, July 12, doors at 7 p.m., films at 7:30 p.m. Deering Estate Visitor Center Theater, 16701 SW 72nd Avenue, Palmetto Bay. An indoor evening of short films celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Tickets are $20, or $16 for students, seniors, and military. Free parking. Recommended for ages 18 and up.
