Next Saturday, neighbors along Old Cutler Road will spend a morning picking up what the water left behind.
The Town of Cutler Bay is hosting Cutler Bay Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at Coastal Ridge Preserve, 18445 Old Cutler Road. It is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, the biggest one-day cleanup in the world.
What volunteers do
Crews clear trash and pull invasive plants out of the preserve. Then they plant natives in their place, which helps the land bounce back instead of getting overrun again next season.
Before you go
The event is free, but you need to register ahead of time. Wear closed shoes, bring a water bottle and dress for sun. Full details are on the event listing.
Three hours on a Saturday morning, and the preserve looks better for the rest of the year. That is a fair trade.
