Sunseeker Resort in Charlotte Harbor is worth the drive across the state for a weekend away. The resort is turning the first weekend of November into a three-day food, wine and jazz festival. Jazz Fest: Food & Wine Weekend runs Nov. 5 to 7. It has two nights of easygoing wine tastings around the resort and a dressy dinner concert on Saturday.
WINE AROUND, NOV. 5 AND 6
From 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, guests can walk the resort at their own pace. Stop at the restaurants and bars taking part for food and wine pairings, limited-time specials and à la carte bites. There is no set route.
- Harbor Yards Food Hall: custom à la carte items and three to five festival specials across its outlets
- Stretto Italian Chophouse: an “Intro to Wine” lounge with charcuterie, tapas-style bites and a wine specialist on hand
- Half Cracked Tiki Shack: wine pairing picks and festival specials
- Level Blue Rooftop Bar: pairings and small bites, ending with a three-wine flight and dessert
Live jazz plays at every stop. Rebecca Richardson and Dan Heck are at Level Blue. Zack B, Cam Kayne and Ed Metz play Stretto. Per Danielsson, Mark Neuenschwander and Dave Pruyn are at Half Cracked, and Larue Nicholson and Alejandro Arenas play Harbor Yards.
SERENADE & SUPPER, NOV. 7
Saturday’s main event runs from 5 to 9:30 p.m. It opens with a cocktail reception at 5 with a cashless bar. Ballroom doors open at 5:45, and a four-course plated dinner with paired wine starts at 6. At 7:30, Danny Sinoff and the Stardust Memories Big Band take the stage.
Tickets start at $149 plus tax per person and include dinner and the paired wine. Other drinks cost extra. Dress is cocktail or formal.
