Fruit & Spice Park in the Redland has filled its fall calendar. There are night events by the fire, a Halloween day for kids and hands-on classes where you take home something you made. Here is what is coming up.
Stargazing by the Bonfire
On Saturday, October 24, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the park hosts Stargazing Night under the Hunter’s Moon. Guests cozy up by a bonfire in the garden. Tickets are $10 for ages 12 and up and $5 for kids 6 to 11. Kids 5 and under and members get in free.
Boo in Bloom on Halloween
On Saturday, October 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., come dressed in your Halloween costume and get a free seed pack while supplies last. The costume contest starts at 2 p.m. Admission is $15 for ages 12 and up and $8 for kids 6 to 11.
Fall Classes
November brings hands-on workshops, each from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You can make scented beeswax candles on November 7, learn to turn tropical fruit into jelly and jam on November 14, and try food preservation on November 21. Each class is $35 for adults and $28 for kids, and park admission is included. Members pay $10.
For grown-ups, Sip & Craft night is on the second Thursday of each month. The next one is November 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It costs $25 with a drink and a craft, and it is for ages 21 and up.
Fireside Nights for the Holidays
Starting November 28, the garden turns into a holiday scene on Saturday nights from 6 to 10 p.m. Fireside Nights also run December 5, 12, 19 and 26. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 6 to 11.
A Deal for Homestead Neighbors
Every Tuesday, Homestead residents get 50% off admission. Just show a driver’s license with a Homestead address. The park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A free tram tour leaves at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
In October, look for carambola, figs and rollinia on the trees. Remember the park rule: only taste fruit that has already fallen, and fruit stays in the park.
