A day of golf in the Redland turned into more than $16,000 for good causes in Cutler Bay.
The Town of Cutler Bay held its 18th Annual Cutler Bay Open Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 12, at Redland Golf & Country Club. Every dollar raised goes to the Cutler Bay Community Fund.
Players teamed up for an 18-hole scramble. The day also had raffles, a 50/50 raffle, mulligans and a Best Dressed Competition. It ended with a lunch and an awards ceremony.
WHERE THE MONEY GOES
The Town started the Cutler Bay Community Fund in 2013. It is a nonprofit, and its board is made up of the mayor and Town Council. The fund gives grants to nonprofit groups that make life better for people in Cutler Bay. Groups that serve the town come first.
The grants help with six kinds of work: education, making the town look nicer, the environment, culture, social services and other charity work. Each grant is between $500 and $2,500. A group can apply once a year. All of the money in the fund goes to charity.
